Yea, I am making some pie filling. I am gonna freeze it. I did can some pears in a light sugar water the other day. I never did get to making anything today. I had to take my son to the eye doctor, then I just felt lazy and started a painting.
It is such a shame that we cant donate fresh produce to local places that feed the hungry. What we don't use, we put in our compost, so it doesn't go to waste in the long run.
I can only imagine how tall your pear trees are. You must not be able to reach the top! You must get lots of critters eating them up when they fall on the ground. We put a deer cam on one of our fruit trees and we get pics of all kinds of critters eating away.

That is a shame you can't donate to a food bank. Our food bank called Loaves and Fishes does take garden donations. Stores send them produce that is outdated. Usually they just have bins that members can take what they want. What a loss of good food.
Yeah, we get the bees here by the droves. I feel bad for the bees that I no longer care for my raspberries. The bees used to come in droves all summer long. But they also harvest the sugar from the pears once the bruises start to break down the pear meat. We get bears, racoons, skunks, and deer to eat all the fallen pears. By the time it gets cold enough to freeze all the pears are gone. And we are talking a lot of pears. We have 3 huge pear trees. And this year they are covered in pears.

It is a shame our area doesn't take fresh donations. Lots of people around here have stands where they sell it. I just give it away.
O yea, we got the bees too. They love fruit trees. We didn't see too many in the spring and were worried about pollination and not getting any fruit, but we did. I am guessing you are like us and have years where you dont get good crops on the trees. We have one apple tree that did great last year and this year the apples are small. I think one of the other apple trees are cross pollinating with another tree cause the two types of apples seem to be combining and looking like each other. Don't know if that can happen, but it seems to be. I dunno. We planted a cherry tree this year. Also planted a persimmon a few years ago. "Berry" from SF sent me some persimmons one year and I loved them, so we got a tree. We also got a apricot tree a couple of years ago and we are hoping it will have fruit next year. The last of our blueberries are finally gone, my Dad ate them up off of the bush. They were super ripe and sweet.
I imagine the bears out your way are super big! We get them roam through, but they mostly go for the neighbors chickens.

Oh, you hit a few sore spots for me. We had a grafted cherry tree. It had 3 different types of cherries on it. Second year we ended up with an early freeze before the trees were in full hybernation and we lost it. Never got to eat one cherry off that tree. We had a apricot tree that I bought off of Ebay when it was just a twig. It took years to grow and begin to flower. I was excited. Then we asked our tree surgeon to trim it one year. It died. Never got one apricot off that tree and we watched it grow for 12 years. Now we have a plum tree that I also got from Ebay at the same time I the apricot tree. So it is about 14 years old. It just started flowering last year. But living in the mountains we are prone to late freezes and two years in a row we have lost the blossoms. Still haven't harvested one plum from that tree. It looks pretty though. Now my peach tree still lives. I bought it from Walmart about 20 years ago. Because of late freezes in the spring we have only harvested peaches 3 times. If I ever get another peach tree I will get a late bloomer. The above is why we go to Colon Orchard.

We had a golden plum tree that grew fruit to die for. I use stand on the ladder and just graze. The poor tree got sick and died. Such a shame about your apricot tree dying after it being trimmed. I wonder if the tree surgeon had really bad energy and thats what did it...

Researched to see how many of my prophetic dreams that came true concerning terrorist from the middles east. I counted 13 in the past twenty years. In these 13 prophetic dreams of terrorist, I died with thousands of people. I broke down in tears today from that. I felt very alone with this grave wisdom. After that I went to Walmart to shop and took that emotion with me. My environment was reflected with that emotion. It wasn't a good trip. When the man purposely shoved his cart into mine to get a reaction from me as I was bent down to grab some magnesium, I didn't even respond. I just ignored him until he went away. I did leave a painted rock when I entered the store, hopefully that put a smile on someones face. I guess 13 terrorist dreams out of nearly a thousand prophetic dreams coming to pass, 13 aint so many, but the experience of it feels like an abyss sometimes.

That is very nice, but I noticed in the site, "Present for mom'. Is this for your mom? Very sweet.

My Mom is gonna give it to a coworker of hers for Christmas. I hide painted rocks at my Moms work on a regular basis and my Mom's coworker finds most of them. On the back of the rocks, I write keep or rehide. She keeps them all and she just recently found out that I was the one leaving them there. So, she asked me to paint her a rock with a cardinal on it and she loved it, so my Mom asked me to paint a piece of wood with a cardinal on it for her. So I did. Next I am gonna paint three pieces of barn wood that is from my husbands family barn that was recently torn down. I am gonna paint some words on it and give it to my father in law and one to my husband for Christmas. My Dad took some of the wood and he made a bench out of it and then I painted some flowers on it. I figure that it will go to a future grandchild.
