Do you really accept everything about you? If not, why not? If so, how so?

I would say a lot of people would like to say yes, but I feel like we all have our fears, doubts, and insecurities. That is a hard question to answer, and hard to gauge our own awareness of what we think it entails. Not to muddy it even further, but I do believe we should strive to fully accept ourselves. Because if we reject a part of ourselves, it is rejecting a part of our being. Rejecting something only makes it worse and pushes it to the surface. With that said, I have at times personally not accepted everything about myself. Bottling up parts of myself that I do not like, to avoid having to face that side of myself. I found it easier to recognize and identify that side of my unconsciousness than suppress and hide it. And while now I feel like I can, and do accept myself, sometimes, small things slip up to the surface that remind me of how maybe I have not truly fully accepted myself yet. Regardless, that is a hard question, and a great question as well also, welcome v!

Welcome to AF V, we are happy you are here and thank you for asking such a difficult and thought provoking question! Personally, I think its hard for anyone to accept their dark side, because we are afraid of others judging us and turning us away from their love. if we cant accept ourselves in the perfect way we are, how can we expect anyone else to do the same? we are all perfect in our own imperfections. our fears and insecurities only dampen our light and weigh us down with the negative energy associated. I look at myself and my life and see things that I would like to change, things that have bothered me for years and that I strive to change them but it has been a slow travel. as long as we recognize that yes, there are some unsavory things about my life but I know it and I am working on it, that shows persistence and strength. we all can access that strength when we allow ourselves to it is about accepting and loving yourself no matter what, you have been though trials and you are still here standing. your perfect love light shining brightly <3 thank you for this question V, and thank you for opening up this discussion. we hope to see you back!

Thank you WeAreAllOne for welcome and response. I would say a lot of people would like to say yes, but I feel like we all have our fears, doubts, and insecurities. That is a hard question to answer, and hard to gauge our own awareness of what we think it entails.... In the first part, I agree with you totally. In the second part, I would say that any tension, or uncomfortability, regardless of how subtle, comes from our ego. Our ego is nothing more than a fabricated story created by the mind to make sense of itself and to have an identity (a label). After all, that is the prime objective of the mind, to make sense of all the stimuli of the human organism. However, since the brain has no nerve-ends of its own, the mind cannot sense itself. So it uses the brain's memory of what the organism has sensed to create stories of validation. But the mind knows the truth, and that the ego really is not valid at all. That is why the ego is so busy always seeking validation. Self-esteem (ego-energy) is based on how much validation is currently believed in. Any threat, such as truth, will produce fear of losing self-esteem, or itself. Any invalidation (negative judgment) is the ego's main threat. People have murders others because of it. Jealousy, anger, guilt, shame, depression, etc, are all emotions stemmed from things not going the way (validation) of the ego. Actually, all our fears come from the ego.

Yes it is difficult, for the ego to face its truth, especially the stories which could easily be judged negatively and lower its self-esteem (lose of validation). However, one can face their so called dark side, expose it, make amends, and accept it. In that way it no longer needs to be a secret anymore. A life without secrets is doable. A life of truly knowing yourself by being self-honest to the very core, eliminates the fear of judgment, because you have already judged self to its core. So when someone judges you there is only two outcomes. If the judgement was true than we either say, "Yes I know", or " Thanks for pointing that out, I had not noticed that before". Or if the judgement is not true, then you know it has nothing to do with you. In either case, there is not threat, or reason to be fearful. By overcoming the fear of judgement, all other fears that result from negative judgement no longer arises. These are the fears of rejection, segregation, abandonment, and annihilation. In regards to being loved. This really is the prized validation of the ego. Most truths are back-to-front. Most people believe they need to be loved to feel okay. But the truth is that they need to be loving to feel okay. However, the loving needs to be unconditional or else their love has a conditioning clause to it, "If I love you, I expect a return for my investment - your love" (if not, then you don't love me, and therefore I will not feel okay). Unconditional love comes from being honest and true (no secrets, no deceptions, no wants or needs). The expression of truth is unconditional love. And unconditional love causes one to be true. Both truth and love share the exact characteristics. Both are genuine, reliable, real, unconditional, patient, persistent/unchanging. In regards to oneself as being perfect or not perfect, I see it in different terms. We are either true or not true. What is not true (imperfections) can be nullified by finding its truth.
