I remember when I was about 5 y.o, my parents had a veggie patch and geese in the back yard. That was 47 years ago. It wasn't long before they started to work two jobs each and it became too difficult to maintain the micro farm in the back yard. The pressures life & society brought that dream they where living down like a lead balloon. Lifestyles and predicaments can and do play a major role in what we can eat and grow that would be considered healthy. Then the next question on top of this, you've already said it andro, is that we would rather throw in a tv dinner and watch our favourite show than to toil in our own back yards (if we have one) to produce our food. Convenience of processed foods and the lack of land for city dwellers combined with the lack of motivation for both city dwellers and land owners creates the perfect storm to rely on eating shit and watching it.

Just in case it was missed in a thread I created a while ago, is a recipe that I have been making and drinking for 3 years. In those three years, I have never been sick and have maintained my health. My family drinks this concoction too.
The ingredients are as follows;
Extra virgin olive oil (50 -75ml for the following)
Cod liver oil *
Coconut oil Almonds Flax seeds (tablespoon for the following)
Chia seeds*
Flax seeds Hemp seeds Dried pitted dates (A few to several)
Bio-culture drink (Yakult) Ground cinnamon powder (teaspoon) Ground turmeric (teaspoon) Cracked peppper (to activate the turmeric)
Garlic (4 cloves) Fresh ginger (about as much as the garlic)
Fresh Pineapple (is best, not tinned) Strawberries (3-4 depending on size) Kale Baby spinach leaves Blue berries
Black berries
honey half an apple (chopped)
half a banana (sliced, if it will fit in your blender) milk, soy or whatever you drink that is similar.
Blend this sucker up and drink up. I have this every second day so the body does not build up a dependency for it all. * denotes a new ingredient to the original recipe. I will be adding zinc tablets to this drink when I get them.

Nice elixir there.

Just in case it was missed in a thread I created a while ago, is a recipe that I have been making and drinking for 3 years. In those three years, I have never been sick and have maintained my health. My family drinks this concoction too. That sounds like our fridge and pantry. I've started to notice more and more land being developed as organic farming communities which is really interesting to me. Basically, lots are 1+ acres and setup to be micro farms with wells, propane, modern efficient housing and outbuildings, solar, etc. There may be larger farms or private schools in the community, depending on the size of the developments. They may or may not be producing and sharing goods or trading services. Having more affordable access to places like that will help with building resilient healthy food systems. We've been signing up for CSA shares the past few years, going to farmers markets, local farms, and so on. Buy things in bulk like nuts, seeds, grains, beans, and lentils. Now that helps a lot with food supply but actually turning it all into meals is still a chore. You really need to enjoy the cooking process. I can imagine in a community like I described above they would have their own restaurants where people were cooking the food all day long that people were growing. It's difficult to find good food at most restaurants. Healthy options are a joke. It is unbelievable how great our bodies and minds work when we're truly healthy. We also become much more sensitive to things that harm us. It's a balancing act. I used to be able to go longer stretches of eating junk food but now when I try to do that I start craving fresh greens or something like that to try and clear the crap out.

That is what is needed again. Tightly knit communities and what they can achieve.
On the dark side, it is unfortunate that big pharma don't like healthy people. Healthy people don't make them profits.

Local food production is the only way to be truly healthy. It's the only way you can really know what's gone into and onto growing your food. My wife and I have looked into moving to Costa Rica to one of these green sustainable communities. They have a common area for yoga/exercise and a community garden tended by the residents there where everyone in the community gets a box of veggies and fruits per week. I think they'll even have community dinners and things like that. It's basically exactly as you're describing. That's the way of the future.

Ever considered filtered water?
I started out with a bench top 2 stage filter had it for 10 months until we upgraded to an 8 stage under-sink system. It filters out fluoride, chlorine, heavy metals ( ) bacteria, parasites (in some places) etc...
This helps with activating and decalcifying the pineal gland (third eye) among many other health benefits. You can definitely can taste and smell the difference between filtered and unfiltered water. The best investment for the body and kitchen.

Definitely. I have an under counter system as well that specializes in flouride and heavy metals. It's from Woder.
