AstraZeneca vaccine: EU confirms blood clots ‘possible side-effect’ UK under-30s will be offered alternatives to AstraZeneca’s jab as the EU regulator confirmed blood clots were a possible “very rare” side-effect.
Under-30s in the UK will be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine as Europe’s medicine regulator confirmed that “unusual blood clots” should be listed as a “very rare” side-effect of the jab.
“EMA’s safety committee has concluded today that unusual blood clots with low blood platelets should be listed as very rare side effect,” the European Medicines Agency said in a statement ahead of a press conference on AstraZeneca’s vaccine. But the EMA stressed that the benefits of the COVID-19 jab developed by the British-Swedish drugmaker and Oxford University continued to outweigh the risks. The press conference came as the UK government said people aged 18-29 would be offered a different vaccine, such as those developed by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. England’s deputy chief medical officer Professor Jonathan Van-Tam said the U-turn was a “course correction” for the UK’s “very successful” vaccine rollout, adding that for most age groups the “risks outweigh the benefits”. The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said that of 20 million people given the vaccine up to March 31, 79 blood clot cases and 19 deaths had been reported. “The risk is four people in a million,” said MHRA chief executive Dr June Raine. Wei Shen Lim of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation,said at a press conference that people aged 18 to 29 with no underlying health conditions “should be offered an alternative Covid-19 vaccine in preference to the AstraZeneca vaccine, where such an alternative vaccine is available”. Under-30s who have already had a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine should continue to take the second dose. Oxford University has halted its trials of the vaccine on children and teenagers. But the World Health Organisation said in late March that the significant benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 far outweighed the risk of blood clotting — which is so rare that people taking the birth control pill are more at risk.

Elderly Queensland woman dies hours after receiving Pfizer coronavirus shot.
A woman, living at an aged care home in Queensland, has died less than three hours after she received her long-awaited coronavirus shot.
An elderly woman has died in a Queensland aged care facility just hours after receiving her coronavirus vaccination.
The 82-year-old woman was a resident at the Yurana aged care facility in Springwood, west of Brisbane.
She received her shot of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccination around 10am this morning. Emergency services were called less than three hours later, at 1.30pm, to reports the woman was unresponsive.
So, anti-vaxers should be punished for seeing that the vaccines are bullshit and that they warn people of the dangers of taking the vaccine. Makes a lot of sense to vilify them when people are dropping dead or having adverse reactions to them. Yes, make it mandatory. It's all fun and games until many people begin dying from it.

OPINION
I was excited to get my first COVID vaccination on Tuesday. At 52, I’m young to qualify for the vaccine (and delighted to use the words ‘young’ and ‘52’ in a sentence), but I’m immunocompromised, so fall into group 1b of the rollout. (Why you would be excited is beyond me)
My parents had both had the jab, as had a couple of their friends, and none experienced worse than a sore arm.
The needle itself was fine. Just a scratch, no pain, and my arm didn’t hurt afterwards. I took a selfie, tweeted about my shot, and felt nothing but relief.
Thirty hours later, I again feel relief. But in between relief and relief was a very unpleasant day.
I ran a few errands after my appointment, then popped into the supermarket. When I returned home, I suddenly and urgently needed to lie down. I wasn’t sure if my fatigue was vaccine or grocery related, but I lay on my bed for an hour, blinking fuzzily up at the ceiling.
I stumbled through the afternoon, feeling more and more hazy. Work was useless so I pottered around the house and made a casserole. Then, at about 5pm – eight hours after my shot – I abruptly felt freezing and my back started to ache. I took my temperature, and found I was running a fever.
I couldn’t blame the casserole. This was definitely the vaccine.
Within an hour, the backs of my thighs and my stomach were sore. Even my skin was sensitive, my clothes scratchy against my body.

For some people to pay attention, it takes something as personal as it gets. And even then there will be people who are like "ah it's probably nothing, I can handle it." Regardless of what people like us say, some need to get it to have a chance to learn the lesson they came here to learn. |

I think the population is too brainwashed tho. Even if more people die, become seriously hurt, it's all "for the greater good" & "better than dying from covid". I've talked to those kinds of people before. That's why I want this just to end. I don't care if some don't wake up. Why should us Good People continually suffer? There will always be something barring Good People from living a safe life. So just end it already. I'm through getting looks, not being able to go places.
