"Big Brother is watching you in the UK."

There was an incident a few years back in Australia where apparently a young man was dropped off on the side of the freeway in the early hours of the morning and that he stumbled into traffic (semi-trailer) and got run over several times by other vehicles too. This prompted the initiative and justification to place 'traffic monitoring' surveillance up and down the eastern seaboard freeway. Yet it was never followed up of the young fellow's misadventure. So you would think the cameras are used for purposes other than 'traffic surveillance', more like surveillance fullstop.
